India Bistro adds spice to Gaithersburg - Gazette Newspaper (Arts Section)

The spice is right and so is the price at India Bistro, Gaithersburg's ethnic eatery. The white column in the middle of the no-frills dining room is now covered with small packets of spices, nuts and grains labeled with their Indian names.

For savory illustrations of how these ingredients are used, you need not look any further than the lunch buffet. A best buy $4.95; it features two kinds of chicken, four vegetables, rice, bread and condiments. For a sampling from the grill India Bistro includes a taste of tandoori chicken, tandoori shrimp, chicken tikka (marinated kabaabs), seekh kabaabs (beef), and barra kabaabs (lamb). Salty lassi, a refreshing drink made from the homemade yogurt, is a good accompaniment to the meal. The noon hour is the busiest for the buffet. Go earlier or later if you don't want to wait.
